South Dakota Friends, Floods, and the Corn Palace

After a few days in the Black Hills of South Dakota, we
started our drive east across South Dakota. While in the Black Hills I got a photo with both a mammoth and Mount Rushmore. We found Mount Rushmore not dog friendly, but with some creative parking and a short hike I got my photo!
At a South Dakota rest area I made two new friends from California. Scooby and Crystal were traveling to West Virginia. I also had a great invite from one of my South Dakota Facebook friends Rufus the Dog. I got to stop and play with Rufus. I a have a YouTube video of Rufus embedded below in the post.
While in South Dakota we stopped in Pierre where I visited my 16th state capitol. Along I-90 we noticed the severe flooding along the Missouri River and stopped to look at the water that will be flowing by our home in Jefferson City. The flooding Missouri River has shut down several highways so our route home took us into Minnesota where we turned south into Iowa.
Before leaving South Dakota I made sure to stop by the Corn Palace where The Chauffeur said I did extremely well posing for a picture. A narrow concrete wall provided the best angle and since I was happy to have stopped to meet Rufus, I was extra accommodating with my pose. Oh, and how could I forget the 80 foot dinosaur and the congested parking lot also known as the famous tourist stop: Wall Drug Store.
We are making our way through Iowa and will have some tales about Minnesota and Iowa to share tommorrow. As promised here's my video with Rufus:
