Green Area Cleanliness : Typical
Congestion : Frequent Encounters
Water Availability : Bring your own H20

The City of Lewes Beach was very dog friendly.  We visited this beach several times over the past few days.  I met other dogs enjoying the beach every time I went there.

The busy season starts in May so our late-April visit was perfect.  The beach is open from 6:00am to 12 midnight.  From October 1 through April 30 there are no dog restrictions.  From May 1 through September 30, dogs are allowed on beach only after 6:30pm.

Being on the Delaware Bay, the waves and tide current are calmer than nearby Cape Henlopen State Park which is on the Atlantic Ocean.

Main Parking

The main parking and beach area is at the end of Savannah Road.

East Parking Lot

A second parking lot with bathhouse (not open during our April visit) is nearby to the east on Cape Henlopen Drive.  We used this lot to minimize our encounters with parking lot crowds.
