I-35 Rest Area - Mile Marker 59 (Southbound)

ShareThis

Outside of the Welcome Center just south of the Kansas Border this has been the first true rest area along I-35 in Oklahoma we've seen while travelling south; that is, there is actually bathroom facilities.

The official Dog Walk is the median between the car and truck parking.  This area is heavily sloped and in the words of another dog traveler there "Not the best."  If you are a traveling dog that needs a little more sniffing, there are areas at both ends with lots of oak trees.  The south end is larger, flatter, and even has a fire hydrant.

Although signs are posted prohibiting traveling dogs from using the picnic area, we observed a traveling golden retriever and his humans violating this request.

Here I met Frankie the Sheltie another traveling dog that lives in the Dallas area.
