The Oklahoma River Trails is a total of 13 miles of multi-use trails, both north and south of the river, with several options for parking and access.  We choose the marker location at Regatta Park because there at the Chesapeake Boathouse is where we access the trails.

For full information about the trails please visit the City of Oklahoma page where you will find construction updates.  Portions of the trail are closed because the trails are being made even better.  Across Central aka Lincoln Blvd from the Chesapeake Boathouse we observed another new boathouse being constructed.

From the Chesapeake Boathouse we walked 2.5 miles to west past the other 2 access points for the south side.  Although the official website indicates the trails do not crossover the river and link, we observed signage near Walker Avenue and saw the bridge had a pedestrian walkway.

On a Wednesday morning we met several bikers and joggers.  We imagine on weekends and summer evenings this is a popular place.  If this dog lived in Oklahoma City he would be here several times a week.

Chesapeake Boathouse

The Chesapeake Boathouse looked like a place to rent kayaks, canoes, or when in season take a chartered river cruise.  Also available near the boathouse was a station providing dog waste bags.

1.00 Mile West

Near Shields Blvd.

Crossover Access

Although the official trail page indicates there isn't river crossover access, signage suggests otherwise.  We observed what appeared to be pedestrian / bike path on the Walker Ave bridge. This path also leads to a trail parking lot.

1.50 Miles West

At the 1.5 mile point you will see the Paul H. Brum, Jr. Dam.

2.00 Miles West (Wheeler Park)

Around the 2 mile point, we reached Wheeler Park where there seemed to be lots of parking for trail access.

2.50 Miles West

We had gone 2.5 miles and decided to turn around near the concrete plant before Exchange Ave.
