We arrived here after dark but were pleased to find a significantly lighted pet area near the water tower.  Unlike other Kansas Turnpike service areas we visited, this water tower has a circle drive around it and that is surround by a circle of pines planted on berms.  This would be a great area to stop and enjoy a picnic.

But we were excited to find what was around the far side:  WIDE OPEN SPACE.  We arrived at eating time and I always get a little extra energy after a meal.  So the open field was a great place for both me and The Chauffeur to jog off some energy.  The area south of the water tower provided enough space we didn't look around for anymore green.

Water Tower Picnic Area

No signs were posted and this was a frequent spot for traveling dogs while we were here.

Wide Open Green

This large flat, maintained green area is about 2.5 acres (110 yards by 110 yards) beyond the berm of pines.  We considered the border on the south to be a small drainage area; while it had recently rained, the water was not difficult to step over and add a couple more acres to your dog territory.

Drainage

Drainage runs perpendicular to the roads and dark line can be seen in satellite view.
