While at Hill's Bark Park, we got a hot tip on this hiking opportunity.

This is not your typical state park, MacLennan Park used to be a private estate.  That estate was bequeathed to the State of Kansas with the specifications that the property be maintained as a forest park.

The 20 acres surrounding the mansion is now the Governor's Mansion.

The park features an interpretive nature trail, native wildlife, native prairie plantings, wildflower plantings, three fishing ponds, an ice skating pond and jogging/bike trails. The park is open to the public daily from 6 a.m. until 11 p.m.

We found a myriad of paths with many options to choose from and blaze your own trail.
