Green Area Size : 5-10 min walk possible
Congestion : Effort minimizes contact with others
Water Availability : Water Fountains & Well Pumps

This is one of the best landscaped rest areas and aesthetically pleasing rest area we have visited.  As with most rest areas in the area a security guard is present 24 hours.

If you're heading south thru Memphis, this is an excellent spot for the traveling dog to stretch the paws and mark some territory.  With over 1 1/2 acres suitable for dogs to take a walk, just about every dog's needs will be met here.

By driving past the visitor center you can loop back around the west side.  There are many pull-in spots with picnic tables where you can have a more 'private' stop.

We observed one functional water spigot on the south end.

North-End Green Area

The north end has an acre of open space for the traveling dog to stretch.  Several pines are scattered throughout giving dogs plenty of sniffing opportunities.  A chain link fence borders the western and northern edges but we found a large hole on the northside.

Hole in the Fence

Approximately a 3 foot by 3 foot hole in the chain link fence.

Westside Green

Running north and south along the western fence, the traveling dog can get additional "green time" with this stretch of grass about 40 feet wide connecting the north and south ends of the rest area.  From the parking lot lot near the visitor center, the area is accessed by a high embankment;  while an impedient for some to access it provides a layer of isolation for the dog wanting to stay away from the crowd.

South-End Green

The south end is approximately 1/2 acre of shaded area.  Due to shade and water drainage, the grass frequently gives way to dirt patches.  The terrain is rougher on this end.

Water Spigot

We tested and this spigot was functional.
