US 65 - Coursey's Smoked Hams

St. Joe, Arkansas

My chauffeur got a last minute tip so he didn’t eat lunch until we arrived at Coursey’s Smoked Hams.

When we arrived, there were other travelling dogs getting some exercise near the highway.

The owners were very welcoming of dogs and had no problem with me being leashed on the restroom house porch while my chauffeur was inside. They said there is no problem with travelling dogs walking around the property; hopefully travelling dogs return the respect and remove any pet “litter.”

After getting a sandwich, my chauffeur and I sat on one of the porches and relaxed. The ham sandwich smelled so good, I uncharacteristically went for my own bite as my chaffeur turned his head. And I “rolled over” better than I ever rolled over for some of the tasty ham.

The extra ham and sausage we took with us was enjoyed for several days. We definitely will stop back for more.

NOTE: Google Maps satellite image has not been updated to reflect new path of US 65. Coursey's is now southwest of highway rather than east.

PS - We did in fact stop back by for more ham about a week later!
