My chauffeur kept talking about how nice the new US 218 was and then something about how the new highway now bypasses Mount Pleasant.

Food and fuel was a long way off the highway, but this stop (accessible by both Exits 42 & 45) offered enough opportunities to stretch.   If both people and dogs are in need of a lengthy break, Mount Pleasant would be a good break.  But, if you’re looking for a quick off-and-on pit stop, you’ll be disappointed (and you may have difficulty finding such a spot in this part of Iowa).

McDonald's

Various options for a quick sniff and stretch; especially, back by the Drive Thru.

Taco Bell / KFC

Enough green around the parking lot for the traveling dog to take care of urgent business.

Wal-Mart

The perimeter of the Wal-Mart parking lot provides a less congested opportunity for the traveling dog to stretch and mark territory.
