Pets in the park must be restrained at all times, and are not permitted in park buildings, on trails, or in the backcountry. Be aware that dogs can agitate bison and other animals, creating a dangerous situation.

Horseback riders must abide by regulations regarding horse use. Horses are prohibited in the Cottonwood and Juniper campgrounds, picnic areas, and on self-guided nature trails. Certified weed-free forage is required in the park. Horse users planning to camp in the backcountry must obtain a free backcountry permit at either the South Unit or North Unit visitor center prior to their trip.
